The main function of a quantum hardware design engineer in this context is to research, design, develop, and assist in design of quantum devices and relevant hardware. They must bridge the gap between the fundamentals of solid-state components—such as quantum dots, superconducting circuits, and topological qubits—with the quantum architecture and other hardware and software layers of a quantum computer.
